The weatherman promised a good day for riding.... We all got up early only to face some pretty dense fog. Anyway we decided to take the weather report for fact and set out on our little journey. Elaine took the lead on her VLX/Tow Pac with Pam and I taking up the rear on my GoldWing. Soon the fog lifted and we were rewarded with a fine day for riding. Our path took us down English Crossing Road where we had to wait for a herd of axis deer to cross. Then on through Bandera and Tarpley to Utopia. After a quick stop for gas and liquid refreshment we were headed toward Leakey. At Leakey we stopped at the Motorcycle Stop and their "Bent Wheel" grill for lunch. They have mostly sandwich type fare, but a good hunger and thirst from the first hundred or so miles took over, and we found that to be quite satisfying. For the return trip, I took the lead. After a short ride up US 83 we veered off the more travelled path for an amusing ride past the Guadalupe River. It was just nice sweeping curves, no "twisties", but just enough to challenge Elaine a bit with her "trike". At Kerrville, we returned to Hwy 16 toward Bandera. Knowing that Elaine is still not ready for twisties, I veered off at Hwy 173, the truck route into Bandera. All together we rode about 240 miles and took all day to do it. A good day..................
